Joe Haveman Campaigns for State House Seat

Joe Haveman, Marketing and Business Development Director for GDKConstruction in Holland and a former CEO of the Holland Area Home Builders Association, has decided to run for State Representative of the 90th District in West Michigan. The seat is being vacated by Representative Bill Huizenga who is term-limited at the end of the year.

Haveman, who served as the CEO of the HBA for 11 years, also has considerable experience in the public sector serving as an Ottawa County Commissioner and also as a City Councilman in Holland. Joe has served on various local boards including Habitat for Humanity, the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council and the Holland Chamber Lakeshore 504 program.

He’s been involved in most of the planning and development strategies in the city and the county and understands the importance of construction as it relates to job creation and economic vitality for business.”

In his current capacity at GDK Construction, Haveman is responsible for building company relationships with architects, engineers and other industry leaders and in soliciting new business and development opportunities. He oversees the marketing and advertising programs, as well as maintains a visible image in the community.

He has a wealth of experience in issues such as brownfield reclamation, zoning, real estate, downtown revitalization and public policy. Joe is a member of the Holland Rotary Club, is a member of the Lakeshore Realtors Association and the HBA, and serves on the Ottawa County Republican Executive Committee. Joe currently serves as the Holland Chamber Governmental Affairs Chair.

Joe and his wife, Kim, live in Holland with their four children, Brooke, Carter, Hope and Mackenzie. Joe is a Graduate of Ferris State University where he received his BS degree in public administration.
